Hello!
This will be my 17th season at Blackburns Resort! It has been open for 67 years with me
being the 5th owner. My only regret is that I did not get here earlier! This year we
escaped with no wind and no ice. Norfork was fortunate compared to many places. I can do
without the extremes for awhile. The early high water was inconvenient but did not hamper
fishing or business very much. It did make for a very good spawn for 3 of the last 5 years
and coupled with good stocking by AGFC has resulted in a very good fish population and
many big fish of all species. I hope the economy and austerity programs will not affect
stocking. It is a bad place to cut and has a very nice payback.
Despite cost rising in all areas,
Blackburns Resort will not raise prices for boats or cottages for 2012. We
will also continue to offer our guests free boat stalls up to 9-ft. wide. Blackburns
Resort is the best value in the Ozarks and will continue to be. It is important to us not
to punish our loyal customers with a higher financial burden and allow as many people as
possible to afford a vacation.
This will not stop us from making several improvements on cottages,
boats and the dock. There will be some new roofs, carpet, furniture, appliances. Debbie
and Susan are already painting despite us being nearly full with customers this fall. Good
weather brings out good things.
If we all work together we can get through these tough times and
hope to see you all this season. Blackburns has several new customers and they are welcome
but our repeat business continues to be the mainstay. You are not just customers but
friends. Our bookings for 2012 are better than ever and deposits are again due on January
15th to hold your cottages. Have safe holidays and God bless! See you in 2012!
